SEMINARY PRESIDENT AND MISSIONS PROFESSOR TO SPEAK IN CHAPEL

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary President Daniel L. Akin is scheduled to speak in The Baptist College of Florida's (BCF) R.G. Lee Chapel on Monday, Feb. 15 and Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. Akin received a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Criswell College in 1980, a Master's of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1983, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1989.

Akin has served in senior leadership positions in the Southern Baptist Convention as well as Criswell College, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has authored numerous articles and several books including Five Who Changed the World, A Theology for the Church, Discovering the Biblical Jesus, and Epistles of John, appearing in the New American Commentary. Throughout his ministry, Akin has provided sound guidance to churches in North Carolina, Texas, Florida, Alabama, and Virginia, and is known for having a heart for missions and evangelism.

Another strong missions and evangelism advocate, BCF Assistant Professor of Missions Richard Elligson will speak in chapel Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. Elligson served with his family in Northeast Brazil as an International Mission Board missionary before returning to the states to teach at BCF in 2006. He has led numerous international mission trips and stirs the hearts of students in his classes by giving them a passion for church planting and evangelism.
