The Baptist College of Florida's College Singers perform "Guys and Glams."

The Music and Worship Division at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville wowed audiences young and old Thursday, March 18 and Friday, March 19 during their "Guys and Glams" performances in the Assembly Center. Guests were treated to the sounds of musical powerhouses from the 50s through the 90s while enjoying fresh popped popcorn, bubblegum and coke floats.

Emcee Matthew LeHew, BCF Webmaster and Graphic Designer, led the audience through a timeline of world events, as the College Singers showcased the time-honored songs of each era. The audience joined in the fun as cast members encouraged participation and entertained.

Male members of the BCF College Singers showcased their talents by replicating past stars such as Fats Domino, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis. The Guys delighted the audience with several old favorites from Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons, intermingled with solos from James Taylor and the country duo Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.

The oohs and aahs of the Supremes, the dance craze of the locomotion, and even the sassy lyrics of singers such as Pink resonated through the Assembly Center when the female members of the BCF College Singers performed their selections. Memories of waiting by the mailbox for a letter from a sweetheart were quickly remembered as the Glams sang favorite "Wait a Minute Mr. Postman."

Directed by BCF Music and Worship Division Chair Don Odom, arrangements were also made for BCF to open its doors to over 750 local students from elementary to high school to attend a free showing of "Guys and Glams" Friday morning. Graceville High School's award winning show choir, under the direction of Stephanie Long, performed several numbers from their repertoire for the students to enjoy before the BCF College Singers took the stage. "What a great privilege to invite the community for a fun event like "Guys & Glams," stated Odom. "A show like this is such a huge collaboration and therefore learning experience for our students. We are honored to have had such a great response from the community."
