BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen announces approval of the graduate program at The Baptist College of Florida.

The launch of its first graduate program marks a milestone in the life of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, Fla. Beginning with the Fall Semester in August, the college will offer a thirty semester hour Master of Arts in Christian Studies. Approval of the program was granted by action of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on June 24, 2010.

According to Thomas A. Kinchen, President of BCF, "This has been a long and strenuous process. For many years our graduates and others from across the region have asked that we provide a graduate program that would build on the excellent undergraduate preparation that we have offered for the last sixty-seven years. The Master of Arts in Christian Studies will carry the characteristics that identify all of our programs: Bible-based, Christ-centered and Ministry-minded. We have a uniquely qualified faculty whose members bring the finest in academic credentials that are enhanced by decades of service to our Lord and His church. The world is lost; the people are hungry; and we have a Great Commission to fulfill. Therefore, we simply must do all that we can in every venue to prepare the next generation of Christian leaders. This new program will allow us to make a significant new contribution to this great work."

The Master of Arts in Christian Studies will provide the next higher level of preparation for those individuals who have earned at least eighteen semester hours of biblical and theological work at the undergraduate level. Those who are interested in the program but have not earned the prerequisite courses can take them with BCF prior to admission into the graduate program. The degree program will consist of a total of thirty semester hours of study with the student selecting a concentration in either Biblical Studies or Christian Ministry. The design of the program is what Kinchen describes as "Ministry Friendly" due to the fact that students will be able to follow the course of study while remaining in their home areas. Instruction will be offered through a mixture of short term campus based classroom experiences coupled with Web-based and Internet delivered components.
