"Celebration of Praise" started out as a simple idea of combining the two choirs led by music director friends Gary Medlock and Daniel McNeill. The idea grew and transformed into a mass choir from churches all around the area singing praises together and glorifying God. "I wanted to see churches come together as one body of Christ," stated Medlock as he reflected on the idea that eventually became "Celebration of Praise."

On August 26th at Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley, Fla., six area church choirs united together to create a spectacular evening of worship called "Celebration of Praise." Participants included Baptist College of Florida (BCF) student Gary Medlock of Northside Baptist Church in Ponce De Leon, Fla., BCF student Lucas Lott of Damascus Baptist Church in Graceville, Fla., BCF graduate Matt Gluck of Blue Lake Baptist Church in Chipley, Fla., Dan Colletti of First Baptist Church in Chipley, Fla., BCF Music and Worship Division Chair Bill Davis of First Baptist Church in Geneva, Al., and BCF graduate Daniel McNeill of Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley, Fla.

In addition to the six music directors, the combined choir of over 130 people included BCF students, faculty, and staff members performing musical arrangements of "The Lord Reigns, The Majesty and Glory of Your Name, I've Been Changed, Jesus Saves, and Defender." Each of the music directors had a song to direct and many of the songs featured BCF soloists. For example, BCF student Jessica Doyle sang the solo for "A New Hallelujah," and BCF graduate Lindsay Atkins sang the solo for "We Will Remember." The music directors performed a special sextet rendition of "A Few Good Men," and Rachel Bruner presented "Ode to Joy" on the piano. The evening included a special time of congregational singing and worship through music.

Not only did BCF music students, music professors, and music graduates participate in the event, but English Professor Geoffrey Reiter read aloud Psalm 8 and BCF's first master's graduate and Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Chipley, Mike Orr, led the benediction.
