BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen presents the Elizabeth Diane Reasoner Servant Leadership Award to Katie Butts

During an exciting Senior Honor's Day service held in the R. G. Lee Chapel at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF), graduating senior Katie Butts was speechless when she learned she was the recipient of a new Servant Leadership Award which included $1000. The new BCF award was established by Dr. Richard M. Reasoner in memory of his wife, award winning communications specialist for the Georgia Baptist Convention, Elizabeth Diane Reasoner.

Killed in an automobile accident in 2007, Reasoner was the first woman to ever receive BCF's alumnus of the year award as well as numerous national awards in the area of communications. Remembered as an outstanding servant and gifted communicator, Reasoner served Georgia Baptists for 20 years and was president of the Baptist Communications Association in 2001-2002. The new award in her memory will honor a graduating senior whose student leadership, academic achievements, and life's goals reflect those exemplified by the life and professional achievements of Reasoner.

Katherine (Katie) Butts, the epitome of a servant leader and first recipient of the Elizabeth Diane Reasoner Servant Leadership Award, will graduate with honors on May 11th with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Leadership. She is engaged to BCF senior Daniel Cunningham.
