BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen leads a special worship service with Kenric Conway, pastor of Family of God Baptist Church in Panama City, Fla., on the statewide-observed BCF Day of Prayer.

After unanimous approval from the Trustees, State Board of Missions of the Florida Baptist Convention, and convention leadership, prayer warriors from all over the state joined together on Sunday, January 29th, for a special day of prayer for The Baptist College of Florida (BCF). Students, staff, faculty, and the future of the college were prayed for, along with prayers of thanksgiving for the impact BCF has already made in the lives of so many. The special prayer event, which will be repeated by Florida Baptists on the last Sunday of every January, allowed for a unified day of prayer across the state focusing on the college that is "Changing the World Through the Unchanging Word.®"

BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen shared this special day of prayer for the college by preaching at the 20th anniversary celebration of Family of God Baptist Church in Panama City, Fla., with pastor and BCF Trustee Kenric Conway. "There is nowhere in Florida where I feel more at home than at Family of God," stated Kinchen. "The spirit of worship is contagious, and the warmth of the fellowship makes every visit a homecoming. We are delighted to be working with Family of God as one of our distance sites for our degree programs."

For many BCF students, praying for the college did not end when the special emphasis day did. Hannah Howington, BCF student and president of the Graceville chapter of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), decided to lead the way in creating a special weeklong prayer campaign following the state-observed BCF Day of Prayer.

"We knew we needed to do a week of prayer at some point in the semester," Howington stated. "It coordinated really well beginning with BCF's Day of Prayer." Howington received very positive response from BCF students, leading many to commit to time slots in continuing to pray for BCF throughout the week. "We were encouraged to find a way to promote praying intentionally for our school among BCF students," exclaimed Howington. BCF students were urged to pray not only for The Baptist College of Florida and the Florida Baptist Convention, but also for the Southern Baptist Convention and the lost around the world.
