BCF Professor of Piano Buford Cox recently judged a district choral competition in Panama City, Florida.

When they aren't performing, teaching a class, leading rehearsals, or giving individual lessons, The Baptist College of Florida's (BCF) Music Professors are frequently requested to lend their expertise in judging local and state competitions as they encourage the next generation of musicians. BCF Professor of Piano Buford Cox was recently asked to judge a choral competition in Panama City, Fla., and Professor of Voice and Pedagogy Kimberle Moon will be adjudicating for the district later in March. The Florida Vocal Association District 2 Music Performance Assessment (MPA) was held at the First Baptist Church of Panama City on Saturday, March 3, with Cox presiding as one of the judges. Participants in the choral festival included middle and high school choirs from Bay, Walton, and Washington counties. This competition is the precursor event to the state assessment for choirs where they can attend by receiving a superior rating at the district level. Professor Moon will be judging the solo/ensemble segment of the MPA's in Panama City on Saturday, March 24. In addition to providing positive feedback to participants during the performance assessments, Moon will also be leading a vocal workshop which will be held on Saturday, March 31, at First Baptist Church Collinsville in Collinsville, MS. For information about the music and worship programs offered through The Baptist College of Florida call 800-328-2660 ext. 427.
