BCF Associate Professor of Theology and Philosophy Mark Rathel was published in the Spring 2012 edition of the Biblical Illustrator.

Mark Rathel, Associate Professor of Theology and Philosophy at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, recently wrote another article for Biblical Illustrator, the quarterly Bible study magazine for leaders and learners featuring articles that assist in explaining Biblical events, people, customs, and Bible texts.

Rathel has published more than 12 times prior in the Biblical Illustrator magazine, as well as writing commentaries for Sunday School lessons for the Florida Baptist Witness. Over the years, he has authored numerous publications and provided analysis for Bible studies and curriculum lessons, and continues to be a requested resource in the area of apologetics.

Rathel's article in the Biblical Illustrator, "Jesus 'Blessed' Them: A Word Study," was written to give background information to readers studying Luke 24:50-53. According to Rathel, the term "blessed" had an important history in a Jewish context communicating both divine and priestly blessings. As the divine-high priest, the act of the resurrected Jesus' blessing the disciples communicated the idea of missions protection or empowerment given to fulfill the Great Commission.

The insightful and interesting article is available in the Spring 2012 edition of the Biblical Illustrator.
