The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) Golf Team placed third behind Faulkner University and Freed-Hardeman University at the Alabama State University Classic held on the Robert Trent Jones Senator Course near Prattville, Alabama, on September 1-2. According to BCF Golf Coach Rick Freeman, this disappointing finish was tempered by a strong second-round performance by Eagle Freshman Blake Obert, who shot 75 on the difficult 6,900 yard course.

The following Saturday, September 7, Obert led the BCF team to its first tournament win in school history. The victory came in an eighteen-hole match at Lake City against perennial opponent Clearwater Christian College (CCC). BCF finished with a four-man total of 337 winning by several shots. Teammates Jordan Kennedy, Austin Rhodes, and Charles Mallalieu joined Obert in the victory.

On September 28, BCF won the rematch with CCC at Lake City by shooting a team total of 340. Mallalieu was the low scorer for BCF.

BCF’s next tournament will be the Southern Wesleyan Classic at Easley, South Carolina on October 13-15. About eight teams from a six-state area will compete. For more information about the tournament of the BCF golf team, please call at 800-328-2660 ext. 453.
