The Music and Worship Division at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville recently opened the doors of the R.G. Lee Chapel for a special Honor’s Recital featuring upper level music students. The impressive night of music featured students performing difficult musical compositions indicative of the outstanding academic excellence found at BCF.

The event began with Joshua Adams singing and playing the piano for a self-composed song titled “Who We Deserve." Anna Holmes followed him with a compelling piano performance of a piece titled “Les collines d’Anacapri” by Claude Debussy.

Several extremely talented upper-level BCF vocal students were featured including Terry Mills who performed “Devotion” by John Ness Beck; Lucas Lott who performed “Stars” from Les Miserables; Thomas Brown performed an original song titled “Searching”; Donovan Higgins performed “The Lord is My Shepherd” by Peter Tchaikovsky; Ryan Gant performed “Lonely House” by Kurt Weill; Rachel Butler performed “On My Own” from Les Miserables; and Gary Medlock performed “Moses” written by Ken Medema.

Gifted BCF instrumental students were showcased including Maxie Boles who performed “Allegro Deciso” by Edward Gregson on the Tuba; Matthew Brian performed “Estilian Caprice” by Gene Paul on the Saxophone; and the BCF Guitar Ensemble, consisting of Professor Jonathan Erp, Brandon Mejias, Nick McCarty, and Kevin Greene, performing a delightfully enjoyable guitar arrangement of “The Entertainer” by Scott Joplin.

The evening concluded with the polished flutist Anna Marie Tysinger who performed “Baroque and Blue” accompanied by Diane Joiner on piano, Cole Richards on bass, and Spencer Higgins playing percussion. ¬†Accompanist for the vocal pieces and instrumental selections included BCF Professor Buford Cox and Joiner on the piano.
