All of the hard work and planning in preparation for Preview Day at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville culminated on Friday, March 14, as prospective students gathered to learn more about the school that is “Changing the World Through the Unchanging Word.®”

Registration began in BCF’s Wellness Center where prospective students began their day exploring information about the Library, Intramurals, Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM), men’s dorms, women’s dorms, IT, Financial Aid, and visiting with representatives from all of the different degree programs offered at the college. Campus guests were able to meet and talk with current students and professors and receive answers to any questions they had on degree requirements and campus activities. Strategically located in the corner of the Wellness Center was a very popular photo booth giving prospective students an opportunity to have their pictures taken with fun props and new friends capturing the memories of the day.

After visiting the exhibit area, campus guests were able to attend a class and obtain more information on specific degree requirements and campus events. Classroom sessions included a Missions/Evangelism/Theology class, an Education class, a Music class and a Christian Counseling class. Another option, which many parents took advantage, was attending a financial aid briefing.

Following the classroom visits, students were directed to the R.G. Lee Chapel where they were warmly welcomed by BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen and introduced to the school’s mascot, Izzy the Eagle. Guests were also able to enjoy a time of praise and worship with several of the school’s talented musical groups including the Praise and Worship Band, College Choir, College Singers, Orchestra, Male Chorale, and Women’s Ensemble. This provided prospective students a chance to see the many opportunities they would have to participate in worship during chapel services held on campus every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Guests enjoyed a time of lunch and fellowship while experiencing the incredible sound of the BCF Jazz Band. Immediately following lunch, tours of the dorms were provided by the Resident Directors offering a glimpse into what dorm life would be like for students living on campus, and a brief walking tour of the campus was provided by the Admissions Counselors.

The day concluded with Ivy Croom from Ashford, Alabama and Jay Goins from Orlando, Florida winning $500 scholarships presented during a drawing held on Preview Day. Over 80 students visited the college during the open house event.

Plans for next semester’s Preview Day on October 24, 2014 are already underway. To learn more about BCF, call 850.263.3261 ext. 460 or visit the website at www.baptistcollege.edu. To see pictures from the photo booth, visit the school’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/baptistcollege.
