Two professors at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville have articles featured in the prestigious quarterly magazine Biblical Illustrator. The respected magazine contains thoroughly researched articles that assist in explaining Biblical truths, events, people, customs, and scriptures.

Professor of New Testament and Greek, Shawn Buice authored an article on the Greek word “hilarós” found in 2 Corinthians 9:7, which is translated as “cheerful.” According to Buice, the passage of scripture states that “God loves a cheerful giver.” The insightful article was published in the Spring 2014 edition of the Biblical Illustrator magazine.

Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew, James Newell wrote an article on the Hebrew word “rum” found in Psalm 99:1-9. The word, when translated, means “exalt.” Psalm 99 repeatedly mentions the exaltation of the Lord. Newell’s article can be found in the Summer 2014 edition of the Illustrator.

The Biblical Illustrator is published by Lifeway Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention for use as a supplement to the Sunday School materials also published by Lifeway. Biblical scholars, including several BCF professors are frequently requested to provide comment, expertise, and insight for the magazine. Professor Buice will be featured again in the Winter 2014-15 volume of the Biblical Illustrator.
