BCF First Lady Ruth Ann Kinchen presents trays of homemade cookies and baked goodies for students at The Baptist College of Florida!

At the beginning of each semester, the students at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville receive a sweet delivery from BCF First Lady Ruth Ann Kinchen. This semester was no different as the First Lady arrived on campus September 15, with an enormous assortment of homemade cookies and baked goodies. As the news of “Cookie Day” spread around the campus, excitement grew quickly among the student body in anticipation of the sweets and the thoughtfulness of the First Lady.

According to the First Lady, many of the students are away from home and miss those special moments and family traditions such as baking cookies. With that in mind, baking cookies for the students and then decorating the campus for the holidays is one of the ways that the First Lady expresses her deep love for each of the students.

“Cookie Day” on the BCF campus serves as a reminder to students that they are not only loved and appreciated, but that others are praying for them and cheering them on. The cookies represent so much more than a delicious treat, they are an example of the compassion and affection that is at the very heart of the BCF family. By sacrificially giving of her time and resources each semester, Kinchen encourages the students, earnestly prays for them, and provides a living example of Christ-like service. The First Lady spends hours of her time to give students at BCF a little “taste of home” while attending college here in Graceville, Fla.

After a quick snapshot of the cookies being presented to the dorm directors, trays overflowing with goodies made their way to each of the dorms and throughout the office buildings on the campus. Faculty and students could be seen gathering around the trays making a selection and enjoying the fellowship.

Not only do faculty and professors invest heavily in the lives of the students, but also other BCF family members such as the First Lady, do as well. Mrs. Ruth Ann’s act of service is a great illustration and expression of how BCF faculty, staff, and students are family.
