Brackin Chandler Hall entertains the audience during last year’s Lakeside Echo.

On February 18, faculty, staff, and students of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville will gather in the Wellness Center for the annual “Lakeside Echo” extravaganza. Lakeside Echo is a Broadway-style musical performance coordinated by BCF’s Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) with a central theme interpreted by each dorm. The theme for this year’s Lakeside Echo is “Sounds of the 90’s” featuring musical presentations based on culture and media in the 1990’s.

The 2016 edition of Lakeside Echo marks the fourth installment of this annual fun event. Lakeside Echo began in 2013 as a musical performance with no theme and has evolved into a delightful student led musical performance. In the years 2014 and 2015, the themes were “Broadway” and “Sounds of the 60’s” respectively. This year, all 8 on-campus dorms will participate with individual performances as well as a group of off-campus and married housing students. Each performance will be scored by a group of judges that will include BCF staff, professors and the local dentist. While the judges deliberate on the overall champion, there will be a brief performance by a group of students playing the hits of the 90’s.

“This event gives students an opportunity to really enjoy the college experience,” stated Brackin Chandler Hall Residential Director Greg Pruitt. “It’s a fun opportunity to just enjoy yourself.” Lakeside Echo is a favorite event among students as they have the opportunity to showcase their creativity and talents, as well as enjoy a time of fun and fellowship.
