BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen taught the second etiquette class of the semester.

Last year, the Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville hosted the first annual student formal event, “An Evening of Class.” As a prerequisite for attending the formal dinner, students were required to go to three etiquette classes that outlined foundational etiquette concepts that are essential in formal, business and black-tie optional events.

BCM has continued the very popular tradition established last year by offering three additional etiquette courses as prerequisites to attend this year’s “An Evening of Class.” The etiquette courses for this year have more of a business emphasis while last year’s courses were primarily geared towards foundational etiquette concepts including dress, manners, and dining rules. The first etiquette course this semester was held on February 19, in the Mills Center and was led by Professor of Business Chantel Oney. Her topic included proper business etiquette and the lost art of etiquette maintained in the workplace. The second class was held on March 4, and taught by BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen. His focus was on business resumes and successful interviews, and how to conduct oneself throughout the entire hiring process. The third and final class for the semester will be held on April 15, and conducted by the BCF Director of Valley Food Services Chef Marty Bednar with instruction covering dining etiquette related to manners and maneuvering pasta dishes.

Students who have missed one or more of the etiquette classes are able to make up the missed session(s) by viewing a video of the class in its entirety available on MyBCF. The formal event, “An Evening of Class” will be held on Friday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. in the Wellness Center.
