With a chill in the air, the faculty, staff, and students of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville welcomed new students for the 2016 Spring Semester extending a warm hand of excitement. The arrival of new students is always highly anticipated by members of the BCF family as new students start on their own journey of being equipped for service in their respective fields of study.

On Thursday, January 14, the incoming class gathered in the heart of the campus, the R.G. Lee Chapel, for registration, worship, and a welcome address from BCF Academic Dean Robin Jumper. Following the message, around 50 new students made their way to the Mills Center for orientation in order to learn about the many facets of life at BCF including the Student Handbook, the Writing Center, and other policies and procedures. Incoming students also had the opportunity to dine with their advisors and professors from their divisions in the new state-of-the-art dining facility, The Deese Center.

Faculty advisors were available for advising sessions on Thursday afternoon and throughout the day on Friday. Students were given time to register for classes, receive their student ID cards, and register their vehicles for parking on campus. In addition to the orientation activities, BCF’s Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) hosted a bonfire on Saturday, January 16, for both new and returning students to enjoy a time of fellowship and to get to know one another. Whether they bonded over finding classrooms together, chatting at the bonfire, or just finding themselves in the same humorous situations, new students at BCF are already making connections and building lifelong relationships.

In a week filled to the brim with fun activities and events designed to acclimate new students to life at BCF, they all walked into classrooms for the first time on Monday, January 18, and began their educational quest. The beginning of a new semester is always an encouraging time at BCF when incoming students embark on a new chapter in their lives.
